A Call To Wisdom

 "So a few days ago I ended up in a bad situation that really drove me into seeking deeper prayer and a stronger spiritual connection with God."

I found this after writing this post! God has a way of communicating his point!

Before I start this post I want you to understand I've come from a place of not even owning my own bible let alone be able to even read one. (One of the first things I prayed for the Holy Spirits help was to teach me how to read the bible!)

I would ask that as I share my journey with you all, in order for you to experience the message along with me if you could have your bible beside you or bible app so that the references make more sense to you :)

So a few days ago I ended up in a bad situation that really drove me into seeking deeper prayer and a stronger spiritual connection with God.

It caused me to open my bible and have a read, if this situation didn't occur I wouldn't have come across this message and felt the need to share it with you all so looking back, in a way I'm grateful that this has happened and believe it was for this reason.

So here it goes

This morning I was given 

Proverbs 4-security in wisdom

Proverbs 10- wise words of Solomon 

"The lips of the righteous feed many but fools die for lack of wisdom."

God wants us to stay wise and grow, by seeking wisdom we understand the importance of fearing the Lord.

It is written that "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the holy one is understanding for your days will be multiplied. And years of life will be added to you" proverbs 9:10

"He who sins against me wrongs his own soul; all those who hate me love death." Proverbs 8:36

In the wise sayings of Solomon wisdom and fear are mentioned as a comparison once again

"The fear of the Lord prolongs days, but the years of the wicked will be shortened".

When I mention fear,

I don't want people to get confused and take the word "fear" as literally sitting there looking up in terror being scared of the Lord, to fear God is to care that your mistakes are being judged. If we go around committing all kinds of sins and wickedness with no care in the world we are walking down a dark path! 

To fear the Lord is to pray to his son for forgiveness and have faith and hope in God. 

Put your hope in his Mercy. When we walk in faith hope rises within us, Romans 5 teaches us that God does not disappoint!!

Proverbs 11 show us many promises for the righteous.

One thing that stands out to me is proverbs 14:25-

The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul; but the stomach of the wicked shall be in want."

I find this scripture timelessly relevant, day in and out I hear people telling me they are never satisfied, it seems they want the nice car or new clothes even though they already have a car and are evidently clothed, they can't seem to separate their needs from their wants and end up in a downward spiral of nothingness. 1+1=0?

Those material desires are of the flesh, and it's all they seem to live for?

Seeking wisdom teaches us that we find satisfaction in pleasing the spirit

Galatians 5:13

God rewards us in ways we can't even imagine would fulfil us, can you imagine a life where the cars the clothes the big house and the need for louboutins doesn't rule you? Once you buy those things do you feel whole? Or do you still want more?

I had to change my ways! When I was in full time employment I was after the Chanel bag, the red bottoms I was looking at the New Audi, Givenchy Make up bag! The list goes on! I thought once I had all of these things I would be happy, But after spending money on practically nothing, I realised half the stuff are still sitting in their box and I still feel the same. But what, I look good? come on..

It's endless, what about those who can't afford those things and find themselves depressed and frustrated? It leaves room for jealousy and hatred. That's a very tiring way to live. 

I don't believe there is anything wrong with seeking bigger and better things but I believe you must do it for the right reasons. Center your life around Christ, Take care of the Lords needs, Pray on it, and he will take care of yours.

We see in Galatians 5

24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 

25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other

I hope that my message today touches someone's understanding. And I hope you're living for the right things. I know it can be hard with things like instagram and Tumblr showing us how Lavish others lives are. God looks after his Children! Don't watch what other people have. Live right, seek wisdom! and those things manifest into your life someway or another anyway,  I can testify for that! But that's another post for another day!
